AICB is proud to be a Supporting Partner of the Annual Banking Conference 2022 organised by the Chartered Banker Institute (CBI), UK, which was held virtually on 1 & 2 November 2022. The overarching theme for this year is "Responsible Banking in an Economic Climate of Considerable Uncertainty and Rapidly Rising Prices". Day 1 of the Conference focused on the topic of “Responsible Banking in a Global Inflationary Climate”, where speakers Eqhwan Mokhzanee, Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Islamic Berhad and Group Sustainability Champion,AmBank Group, Malaysia; Dr Vian Sharif, Founder, NatureAlpha, UK; Yasser El-Ansary, Chief Executive & Managing Director, FINSIA, Australia; and Prof. Aditya Singh, FRSA FRAS FRAI, Director, Athena School of Management, India discussed the key role of responsible banking in tackling the various environmental, social and geopolitical challenges faced globally today. On Day 2, discussions on the topic “Why Responsible Banking Values Matter” saw speakers James Houston, Group Strategy, Lloyds Banking Group, UK; Johanna Dichtl, Sustainability Expert & PRB Implementation Support Manager, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), Germany; Karl-Oskar Olming, Head of Sustainability Strategy and Policy, SEB Bank, Sweden; Joy Macknight, Editor, The Banker, UK; and Luanne Sieh, Senior Managing Director, Head of Group Sustainability, CIMB Group, Malaysia sharing their views on how the work of the PRB Academy will help bankers address the issues and challenges in responsible banking during economic uncertainty, through the lens of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking (UN PRB). CBI President Steve Pateman was the keynote speaker for Day 1, while CBI Chief Executive Simon Thompson and Simone Dettling, Banking Lead, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), Switzerland were the keynote speakers for Day 2. The Conference was attended by close to 1,000 individuals.
