INTRODUCTION TO PROFESSIONAL CREDIT CERTIFICATION

Professional Credit Certification (PCC) is a certification programme in credit for banking practitioners who seek to equip themselves with the skills, knowledge and tools to advance in demanding and rapidly changing field of credit management. By completing the PCC, candidates demonstrate their commitment towards attaining the highest standards of becoming a certified credit practitioner. This certification is developed by Malaysian credit experts to provide greater academic learning with hands-on operational elements, presenting a clear education pathway to becoming credit professionals.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The qualification aims to produce credit professionals who are able to:

  • display a sound understanding of credit management principles and undertake the advanced credit roles and responsibilities of an end-to-end credit management process
  • apply and manage broad credit tasks, including accounts management and financial statement analysis, in day-to-day business service activities
  • evaluate and resolve complex credit tasks within a range of complex situations to improve the performance of banking services and maintain good credit standings for clients.

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • Entry-level banking executives who aspire to advance in the credit function.
  • Banking professionals with several years of experience in the credit function.

MEMBERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION

Members who have completed the PCC programme will be upgraded to ‘Associate’ status and are entitled to use the membership designation, ‘Associate, AICB’. Click here to find out more.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Candidates are required to be Individual Members of AICB.
  2. Candidates must meet the following entry requirements.
QUALIFICATION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

STANDARD ROUTE

Certified Credit Executive (CCE)

Available to individuals who possess SPM or an equivalent qualification

The institute may consider on a case-by-case basis, individuals who do not meet the minimum education requirements.

Business Credit Professional (BCP)

OR

Retail Credit Professional (RCP)

Completed Certified Credit Executive

If you are a Chartered Banker and wish to enrol for the PCC qualification, you may enrol directly for BCP/RCP if you have a pass in the CB Credit and Lending module.

Candidates can apply to enrol directly in Business Credit Professional (BCP) or Retail Credit Professional (RCP) if they meet the following entry requirements.

QUALIFICATION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

ACCELERATED ROUTE

Business Credit Professional (BCP)

OR

Retail Credit Professional (RCP)

Available to individuals who:
  • possess relative qualifications or have completed structure learning* programmes in the area of credit

OR

  • have completed a bank's internal certification programme in the area of credit (6 days and above), accredited by the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA)

*Structure learning refers to learning programmes of courses that are designed using instruction methodology.

Approvals

  1. All applications for enrolments or exemptions will be processed according to the requirements set out in the regulations.
  2. Applications will be processed upon receipt of full and complete documentation as stated in the Enrolment section.
  3. Approvals for enrolments or exemptions will be granted based on the information/documents submitted and candidates may be contacted if additional information is required.
  4. Candidates whose qualifications and experience have been assessed by the Institute will be informed of the Institute’s decision within 10 working days of application date, upon receipt of full and complete documentation.
  5. Where the candidates’ qualifications have not previously been assessed by the Institute, a longer processing time will be required.
  6. Candidates will be informed of the Institute’s decision via email.

ENROLMENT

Candidates who submit incomplete applications (i.e. applications with incomplete details or supporting documents) will be given 30 days to provide the required information and/or documentation, failing which the application will be declined.

Proof of completion of relevant qualifications, structured learning programmes or the bank's internal certification programme.

Important notes

  1. The qualification certificates/examination transcripts submitted must be certified as true copies by one of the following individuals:
    • a university official; OR
    • a Notary Public; OR
    • a Commissioner for Oaths; OR
    • an officer of the employing organisation; OR
    • other such persons or agents as may be approved by the institute.
  1. The signatory must sign and date the documents and provide the following details:
    • name
    • designation
    • email
    • contact number
  1. If the documents are not in English or Bahasa Malaysia, translated documents by a certified translator must be appended to the submission. The credentials and contact information of the certified translator must be stated.
  2. Qualification certificates that are submitted for enrolments or exemptions must be awarded by universities/higher eduction institutions recognised by the awarding country's Ministry of Higher Education or its equivalent or the national qualification accreditation agencies.
  3. Malaysian qualifications should be listed in the Malaysia Qualifications Register (MQR) or the Finance Accreditation Agency's (FAA) website.
  4. AICB reserves the right to contact the awarding institution to verify the authenticity of the candidate’s qualifications.
