INTRODUCTION TO THE PRIOR EXPERIENCE CONVERSION PROGRAMME (PEC)

To support the requirements of the specialised certification programmes, AICB offers a ‘speed to specialisation’ option that allows eligible bankers to be exempted from the normal qualification pathway in specialised areas through the Prior Experience Conversion Programme (PEC).

PEC

PEC allows experienced candidates to showcase their experience and tacit knowledge through the production of a reflective paper. It is aimed at candidates who may not have gone through a formal or structured learning process to acquire this high-level competency.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Bankers working in specialised functions who are eligible for exemptions from the normal qualification pathway in specialised areas.

ENROLMENT

MEMBERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION

Members who have completed the PEC will be upgraded to ‘Associate’ status and are entitled to use the membership designation, ‘Associate, AICB’. Click here to find out more.

Eligibility Criteria

To enrol for the PEC, candidates must fulfil the following criteria:

PEC
  1. Have at least 15 years of experience in the banking industry, inclusive of 5 years in any of these specialised functions (Credit, Audit, Risk, Compliance and AML/CFT); AND
  2. Have been in a C-1 position for at least 5 years;
    Note: Candidates who are in a C-2 position will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with the final decision residing with the Institute
  3. Received/produced a recommendation letter from the CEO’s office or the designated office approved by the CEO. The final approval resides with AICB.

ENROLMENT

Candidates who submit incomplete applications (i.e. applications with incomplete details or supporting documents) will be given 30 days to provide the required information and/or documentation, failing which the application will be declined.

  • Curriculum vitae (CV) highlighting the specific descriptions of the job function, achievements and competencies for each position; AND
  • Organisation chart showing that the candidate meets the requirement of 5 years in a C-1 position; AND
  • A recommendation letter from the CEO’s office or the designated office approved by the CEO. The final approval resides with AICB.
