The Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) held its 20th Graduation and Awards Ceremony 2017 on 13 May 2017 at CCEC@Vertical, VE Hotel & Residence in Bangsar South City, Kuala Lumpur, with the presence of over one thousand attendees comprising graduates and guests. The graduation ceremony recognises the increasing importance of professional education for the banking industry as it showcases the growing pool of banking professionals who are competent, knowledgeable and professional. Officiating the event was the Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, Datuk Muhammad bin Ibrahim, who delivered a special address at the graduation ceremony.
A total of 1062 AICB members comprising banking practitioners graduated from the various AICB qualifications. In line with its efforts to professionalise the banking industry, AICB also recently signed a Joint Declaration with 25 Members of the Association of Banks in Malaysia to create a workforce characterised by high standards of professional conduct, knowledge and competence through the Institute’s flagship programme, the Chartered Banker Programme. The Chartered Banker qualification is conferred jointly by AICB and the Chartered Banker Institute, UK. This milestone further reinforced industry’s unified stand on upholding standards of conduct that will inpire confidence in the financial system.
Further, the Institute also continues to ensure that its professional qualifications are aligned with industry needs in order for talent in the banking industry to be equipped with the requisite skills and values through its series of professional qualifications. This year marks the 40th year that the Institute has provided its banking education expertise to the nation.
