AICB's Empowering Bankers Webinar Series: “Helicopter Money: How, for What, to Whom and by Whom? Stimulus Packages in a Time of Crisis”

24 Apr 2020 @ 10:00 am (+8 GMT)

AICB, together with the Asia School of Business, is pleased to invite you to its joint webinar on “Helicopter Money: How, for What, to Whom and by Whom? Stimulus Packages in a Time of Crisis”.

As governments around the world introduce stimulus measures to counter the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on economic activity and the wellbeing of the nation, questions arise as to its implications and aftermath: Who are benefiting from these measures and more importantly, who are bearing the burden that results from its implementation?

Moderated by AICB CEO Prasad Padmanaban, hear from Prof. Hans Genberg of the Asia School of Business, as he shares insights on this unconventional monetary policy and how important it is to be well-targeted to reach the most vulnerable and those most affected by the crisis. He will also address the role of fiscal authorities and banks in the implementation of these measures.

Learning Outcomes

  • Discover the principles that should guide these stimulus measures
  • Appreciate the policies that authorities in different countries have emplaced, and assess how they measure up against these principles
